Hold Shift with one pinky, press the letter with the other hand, let go of both. The keyboard lights up the Shift key to use.
How to type a capital letter
- Find the letter's hand. Is the letter typed by the left hand or the right?
- Hold Shift with the other hand's pinky. There is a Shift key at each end of the bottom row.
- Press the letter, then let go of both.
| Capital letter | Typed by | Shift held by |
|---|---|---|
| Q W E R T, A S D F G, Z X C V B | Left hand | Right pinky |
| Y U I O P, H J K L, N M | Right hand | Left pinky |
What you type
Choose Capital letters for short sentences that each start with one, or Names and places for lines with names such as Ava and Leo and places such as Ohio and Peru. A line from the game:
Water dog, tower tiger rain frog. Nap skip green and greet.
The words are chosen for the keys, so some lines read a little silly. For sentences that read like stories, go on to sentence practice.
Shift or Caps Lock?
Use Shift. Caps Lock turns every letter into a capital until it is pressed again, which is handy for a whole line of capitals and a nuisance for one. Holding Shift for a single letter is the habit that real writing needs.
