Sight word worksheets

Bumpy Keys is a typing game for ages 4 to 9, with sight words in its lessons. Free to start.

Pick a list or type your own words, then press Print. Each page has eight words to read, write twice and then type.

What is on a worksheet

ColumnWhat the child does
Read itThe word is printed large. Read it aloud.
Write itWrite the word on the line.
Write it againCover the first try and write it once more.
Typed itTick the box once the word has been typed on a keyboard.

Each page holds eight words, one to a row, with a line for a name and a date at the top. The first page of the pre-primer list starts with "a", "and" and "away".

Printing just the page you need

Pick a list beside the heading and press Print. A whole level is several pages (5 for pre-primer, 12 for the nouns), and the print window lets you choose one page or a range, so a week's eight words can be one sheet. The pages fit US Letter and A4 paper.

A worksheet for this week's words

Type the class list into the box and press "Use my words". Your own list can hold up to 40 words of up to 14 letters, a to z only. A word on the game's blocked list is left out. A long word is printed a little smaller so it stays clear of the writing line.

The typing step

For the last box, type the same words in the sight word game, which has every Dolch level, or put your own list into spelling practice. Either one asks for each letter in order, so the box is ticked for a word typed in full.
