Christmas typing game

20 Christmas words here. Bumpy Keys has 100 lessons, free to start.

Type Christmas words to move a baby penguin on a sled. Each lap picks twelve of the 20 words in a new order.

The Christmas words

tree gift snow sled star bell elf santa reindeer cookie candy stocking wreath carol sleigh mitten cocoa lights ribbon december

20 words about trees, gifts and snow. The list sticks to the things a child sees in December: the tree, the lights, the cookies and the snow. The words use 19 of the 26 letters. A lap never asks for J, P, Q, U, V, X or Z. The longest are "reindeer", "stocking" and "december", at 8 letters each. "tree" and "star" are typed with the left hand alone.

How to play

Type the lit key. The hands show which finger to use, and a wrong key waits for the right one. Each lap ends with up to three stars for careful typing.

Where the game is set

The road is the snowy world from the game, under a night sky. In the full game this racer comes from Polar Pals, one of the worlds the optional one-time $4.99 purchase adds. All 100 lessons are free in Puppy Park and Dino Dash.

For a class, or a rainy afternoon

The game runs in a browser on Chromebooks, laptops and iPads, with no accounts and nothing to install, so a whole class can play at once. Nothing typed is saved or sent.

The words use letters from the whole keyboard, so the game suits a child who has met most of the letters. For a child who is just starting, the beginners page stays on the home row.

The same words in a word search

The Christmas word search hides these 20 words in a grid, to solve on the screen or print with its answer key.
