How the animal games work
Every game works the same way, so a child who has played one can play them all. The lit key on the keyboard is the next one to press, in the color of the finger to use. Each right key moves the animal along its road. A lap ends with up to three stars for careful typing.
What changes is the animal, the place and the words. The penguin types ice and sled. The pig types hay and barn. The kitten types purr and yarn.
Which animal for which typist?
The pig has the shortest words, none longer than 4 letters. The puppy, penguin, goldfish, ladybug, hamster hero and beaver stop at 5 letters. The kitten, cheetah, hamster captain and unicorn have words of 7 letters or more, for a confident typist.
For a child who is just starting, the beginners page stays on the home row, and the lessons add a key or two at a time.
Where the animals come from
Each animal is a racer in Bumpy Keys, a typing game for ages 4 to 9 that we make. The puppy and the dinosaur are free in the full game, with all 100 lessons. The other animals come with the optional one-time $4.99 purchase. Every game on this page is free to play here.

Questions
Are the animal typing games free?
Yes. Every game on this page is free, with no ads and nothing to sign up for.
Which animals can I pick?
Dinosaur, puppy, kitten, monkey, pony, penguin, cheetah, goldfish, pig, spotted pup, ladybug, bunny, hamster hero, hamster captain, beaver, dragon and unicorn.
Do the games teach typing or just test it?
They are practice. The keyboard shows which finger to use for every key, and a wrong key waits for the right one. For lessons that start from two keys, use the typing lessons page or the full game.
